George Gott was born in Pontefract, Yorkshire in 1896. He enlisted with the 13th Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment in 1915 and saw service in France, Flanders and Italy. At some point he was Wounded in both legs and arms. He was awarded the Military Medal per LG page 10122 on 27 August 1918. Presented to him at the Alexandria Theatre, Tanshelf.

His address was 7 Beech Street, Grovetown, Pontefract. He was discharged on 23.1.1919

According to the 1939 Register he was a Cleaner/Caretaker at the Labour Excchange and was living at 40 Primrose Hill, Knottingley.

Also entitled to the British War Medal and Victory Medal which are not included.
