Henry George Higgins was born in Clewer, Berkshire in 1886. He worked for the Railways at Slough Station for a year from 1903 to 1904 before resigning. He served with the 12th battalion Kings Royal Rifle Corps in France from 23 July 1915 and was taken Prisoner of War in March 1916. He was repatriated on the cessation of hostilities in 1918.

He then took up employment with the Royal Household at Windsor Castle where he was a Porter in the Lord Chamberlains Office. He was awarded the 1935 Jubilee Medal and the 1937 Coronation Medal as a member of the Inspector's Staff at Windsor Castle. 

According to the 1939 Register he was still a Porter with the Lord Chamberlain's Department at Windsor Castle and was living at 29 St Andrew's Road, Windsor. He was awarded the Royal Household Long and Faithful Service Medal with 30 year clasp and the Royal Victorian Medal as a Porter with the Superintendent's Staff on 1 January 1943.

Medals are in good condition unless otherwise indicated. Sold with a quantity of research and an original photograph of a boys football team 1899/1900 - unfortunately not named.
