Army Long Service & Good Conduct Medal (647. GUNR. J. PERDUE. R.H.A.)
John Perdue was born in St Pancras, London in 1851. He enlisted with the Royal Horse Artillery and served with them as a Gunner for more than 21 years. He was awarded the Army LSGCM on 1 October 1889 and was a Claimant for a Chelsea Pension in 1892. He had seen in excess of 4 years service in India.
He was stationed in Aldershot according to the 1891 census and was a Messenger with the War Office in 1901 whilst living at 140, Wandsworth Road, Lambeth with his wife. He was still employed at the War Office as a Messenger in 1911.
He died on 20 November 1925 in Medway, Kent.
