A superb die-struck replica of the medal designed and struck by Matthew Boulton to be presented to the survivors of the Battle of Trafalgar.
This medal is struck to the same high relief as the original.
Originally Boulton struck around 15,000 medals in white metal but bronze and bronze gilt examples from this period are also known. The medal was re-struck on at least two furtehr occasions with silver examples being made around 1820-1850 and gold examples in 1905 for teh centenary of the battle. These later strikes are not as detailed as the original pieces.
