Awarded to the Military General Service Medal 1799-1814.
The action took place on 21st August 1808 when the French Army under Marshal Andoche Junot, moved from the Portuguese capital to block Wellingtons advance towards Lisbon. The Armies met at Vimiera where the French were driven back and retreated.
