Clasp awarded to the Military General Service Medal 1793-1814 and Naval General Service Medal 1793-1840.

Napoleon occupied Egypt at the beginning of 1801 and the British soon afterwards sent an expedition under General Sir Ralph Abercromby, supported by additional troops from india and the Cape of Good Hope under the command of Major General Baird, to conquer the country.

Abercomby landed his force on 8th March 1801 in Aboukir Bay and forced the French back towards Alexandris.

Sever fighting ensued and the French Genera,l Menou, was beseiged in Alexandria,  the town eventaully capitualted in August.

The clasp covers the period 2nd March to 2nd September 1801.
