Authorised 9th January 1903 for service between 19th October 1892 and 10th March 1893. Issued in both silver and bronze.
Awarded for service in the Northern Chin Hills during the Siyin-Nwengal uprising when the Chins rose up in rebellion against the British proposals to disarm the tribes. the campaign involved the despatch of small columns, as was usual in Burma, but as the Chins would not stand and fight few encounters took place.
terms were offered to the remaining rebels in early March when General Palmer and the majority of his force left the area.
