Authorised by Army Order 72 of 1st April 1896, this clasp was awarded to all those who formed teh relief column that fought its way through to the garrison at Chitral.
It was awarded for service under Lt Genral Sir R.C. Low GCB between 2nd April and 15th August 1895; Brevert Colonel J.G.Kelly CB ADC between 26th March and 20th April 1895 (it was his troops who actually revieved the garrison and lifted the seige); Captain F.J.Moberley DSO, 37th Bengal Infantry at Mastuj; Lt S.M.Edwardes DSO, 2nd Bombay Infantry at Reshan and Captain C.R.Ross 14th Bengal Infantry who left Mastuj on 7th March to give assistance to Lt Edwardes at Reshan.
