Awarded until 1928. Approximately 27,661 awards were made of this type, 26,211 and 7 bars being immediate awards of which 366 and 1 bar were awarded for gallantry.

This issue was replaced in 1928 with the coinage head version of the George V issue. Interestingly the ribbon on this issue came in three designs, plain crimson - changed in 1916 to crimson with white edges and changed again in August 1917 to the current ribbon of crimson with three white stripes.

This replica is supplied with the last pattern ribbon as all holders were required to change the ribbon. We would be pleased to change to either of the earlier ribbons should you wish, please specify at the checkout.
