The Sainya Seva Medal is an Indian military award instituted in 1960 for non-operational service in specific regions of India with harsh conditions and severe climates. Service personnel are awarded the medal with a clasp for the specific geographic area, such as Jammu and Kashmir, NEFA, Himalaya, Bengal-Assam, Andaman and Nicobar, Marusthal (desert), or Sea Service.
The medal is awarded for at least one year of service in these qualifying areas, with different requirements for flying personnel.
