Police Constable George Sparrow, Metropolitan Police was born in Old Chesterton, Cambridgeshire on 28.3.1872. He joined New Scotland Yard on 18.12.1893 and served his entire career with Y Division (Highgate) He suffered with defective eyesight from the onset of his service and was discharged to pension (number 22627) on 19.3.1919 at the age of 46 and after 25 years 91 days on the beat.
According to the 1939 Register he lived at 218 Mersea Road, Colchester, Essex and was a Retired Police Pensioner and Clerk. He passed away in 1947.
