Frederick Percy Burley was born in Paddington, London in 1886. A Plumber's Mate, he attested with the Kent RGA Militia as a Gunner in 1904 and, later that year on 22 June, he joined the RAMC. In WWI he went to France with the RAMC on 18.8.1914 and was awarded the MM for Bravery in the Field when with 5th Coy Field Ambulance in the London Gazette of 13 May 1919, Gazette Page 6048. He was awarded the LSGCM in 1922.
