William Vasey had an interesting life - born in Finsbury Park, Middlesex on 16 February 1891 he served as a 3rd Engineer in the Mercantile Marine in WWI. 

AN active member of St John Ambulance he was awarded their service medal with clasp in 1941 - his involvement with SJAB being mentioned in the 1939 Register where he was living in Cedric Road, Doncaster and was described as a Maintenance Mechanic working for a Power House. He was also an ARP First Aid Worker.

He earned the Defence Medal in WWII and was on the Royal Air Force Force List  with service no. 110740. Attached to the Training Branch, he was described as not serving on the Active List on 12 April 1941. He was awarded the Cadet Services Medal to the rank of Lt Lt RAFVR (T).

He passed away in Don Valley, Yorkshire in January 1953.
