Edward Bradley Bate was born in Ludlow in 1878 He saw service with the 6th Battalion South Wales Borderers and was Killed in Action on 2 November 1918 - nine days before the Armistice - and is commemorated on the Terlincthun British Cemetery in France. 

Thomas William Bate served Royal Lancaster Regiment and 4/Lincolnshire Regiment with whom he was reported WIA ON 24 October 1918 Shrapnel in Right Hand.
