Father - Queens South Africa Medal clasps Orange Free State, Laing's Nek, Belfast (3355 Pte. D. MANN. 19/Hrs.); Kings South Africa Medal clasps South Africa 1901 & 1902 (3355 PTE. D. MANN. 19TH HUSSARS.) - David Johnathan Mann was born in Ipswich, Suffolk in 1870 and enlisted with the 19th Hussars on 19 January 1889. He served in India and then the Anglo Boer War in South Africa where he spent 2 years 58 days. Despite seeing no WWI service, he attested with the Royal Tank Corps with no. 396568 at the age of 50 on 31.5.1921. His 13 years service with the Hussars was acknowledged in the RTC register. He took his discharge on 13.7.1921 - a couple of months after enlisting. According to the 1939 Register he was a widowed Gardener living at Bungalore, Braintree, Essex with his sons. He died on 8 May 1944.

Mann, Flat 1, 35 Leaway Road, Paignton, Devon. (The box indicates R.A.S.C. service) - (Jack Mann) John Cecil Major Mann b Hinxton, Cambridgshire in 1899. He died in July 1975 Hertford
Son (2) - Special Constabulary Medal GVIR (STANLEY MANN) - in box of issue to 626 ESSEX - Stanley Archer Mann, son of the above, was born in Colne, Essex in 1906. He served with the Special Constabulary and was in the 1939 Register as a member of the Observer Corps and a Builders Labourer by trade living with his father at Bungalore, Braintree, Essex. He died in 1980
Son (3) - Defence Medal; War Medal 1939-45 - unnamed as awarded in box of issue with award slip addressed to F. Mann, Esq. "Bangalore" Station Road, Hatfield Deverel, Chelmsford, Essex. (The box indicates Air Ministry service) - Frank Mann was born in Earls Colne Essex on 20.11.1912. According to the 1939 Register he was living at the same address as that to which his WWII medals were posted, along with his brother and father. He was a Sheet Metal Worker by trade. He died in Braintree in 1996.
