Albert Henry Alexander Charles (Alex) Cranmer was born in Camberwell, London in 1898. He joined the RFC on 28 April 1915 but appears to have only seen home-based service for which no medals were issued to him. He rejoined the RAF in 1925 and was sent to their Electric Wireless School at Flowerdown for training. An assessment taken of his skills in 1927 read thus: "Has a fair knowledge of transmission and reception but lacks detail. An excellent operator. Would require training on W/T principles before employment as signals officer"

He was promoted to Flying Officer on 21 September 1926

In 1939 he was promoted to Sales Representative with the Post Office (LG 12 May 1939) and was awarded the M.B.E. in the London Gazette of 1 January 1945 as Squadron Leader (70147) Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve on the advice of H.M. Government's New Zealand Ministers.

He died in London on 20 June 1967

Medals are in good condition unless indicated otherwise. Sold with some research.
