Military Cross GVR reverse engraved Lieut. C.S Douglas Sherwood Foresters; British War Medal (LIEUT. C.S. DOUGLAS.); Victory Medal (LIEUT. C.S. DOUGLAS.)

Charles Stuart Douglas served with the 15th (Bantams) Sherwood Foresters Regiment in WWI. Commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant on 29.7.1915 he was sent to France on 29.1.1916 and was awarded the Military Cross in the New Years Honours London Gazette of 1.1.1917. He was, reputedly, eligible for a SWB but no evidence of him being awarded one could be found.

The addressed provided on his Medal Index Card are "Hill Brow", Mount Ephraim, Tunbridge Wells and Fairfield Hall, Addingham, Yorkshire. In respect of the latter address - this was the residence of a wealthy industrialist and benefactor, George William Douglas and it is suspected that Lt Douglas was a nephew of close family relative to this man.

Medals are in good condition unless otherwise indicated. Sold with copied research.
