Albert Howard was born in Burley, Leeds in 1894. He attested with the Royal Artillery in 1911 and was assigned to the 1st WR Bde RFA (T). He was embodied for WWI in August 1915 but was only sent to France with the 310th Bde in 1916. he was awarded the Military Medal for Bravery in the Field in 1919, being demobilised to the Reserve on 16 May of that year. Having written to the authorities, he was awarded the Territorial Forces Medal in 1922. 

His address immediately post WWI was Address 68 Woodside Avenue, Burley, Leeds.

According to the 1939 Register he was a Tailor's Cutter living at 19 Poole Road, Leeds. He was in the employ of  J Barran & Sons Wholesale Clothing Manufacturers. He passed away in Leeds on 12 January 1940
