James George Bartlett Mundy was born in Abbotsbury, Weymouth in 1881. He enlisted into the Royal Navy as a boy in 1898 and served in WWI aboard New Zealand and Zealandia. He was pensioned to shore in 1922 and joined the RFR the same year. He was awarded the Rocket Apparatus Long Service Medal for long service with H.M. Coastguard of 20 years full or part time service.

According to the 1939 Register he was an Agricultural Worker and a Naval Pensioner living in Rodden Row, Dorchester. He passed away in 1969.
