Stephen Ernest Charles Allwood was born in Birmingham in 1896. He served with the RA in France and, post-war, continued to extend his service with the Colours. He was awarded the LSGCM in 1934 and the Jubilee Medal 1935 as a Sergeant with the 24th Field Brigade, R.A.
He was M.I.D. in the LG of 6 April 1944 in recognition of gallant and distinguished service in the Middle East whilst Regimental Sergeant Major of his unit.
