Henry Grimes was a long serving member of the Royal Engineers. He served in Mesopotamia in WWI and was x 2 Mentioned in Dispatches - on the first occasion on 18 February 1919 whilst with the Works Department of the Royal Engineers and again on 3 June 1919 - deserving of special mention for distinguished and gallant services and devotion to duty.
The address provided by him for the delivery of his medals was, simply, "Gibraltar". He was a member of the Calpe Lodge of the Free Masons in Gibraltar in 1920 - described as a "Corporal R.E."
He was awarded the LSGCM in 1926.
