Thomas McLeod was born in Alness, Ross & Cromarty, Scotland in 1862. He entered Royal Service as a Footman to the Master of Horse in 1880, becoming Footman in the Royal Mews in 1892. He was advanced to Yeoman State Porter in 1910 and was, according to the 1911 census, living in Battersea, London. His wife having died in 1898 his son, Thomas Colin, was placed in in the Brighton Home for Orphan Boys at the expense of Queen Victoria. McLeod retired from Royal Service to pension on 12 August 1932. 

He was awarded the Royal Victorian Medal in Silver on 3 June 1929 - one of King George V's Birthday Honours and for his services at the Royal Mews.

According to the 1939 Register he was living at 31 Church Street, Ampthill, Bedfordshire and was a Retired Footman. He passed away there on 8 November 1950. An obituary in the Ampthill & District News of 14 November 1950 asked the question as to whether, at the age of 91 when he died, he was not the Last of Queen Victoria's Servants.

Medals are in good condition unless otherwise indicated. Sold with research including a letter from the Royal Household Archive dated 7 June 2005.
