Cecil Harry (Henry) Simmonds was born in Southampton in 1896. He served in WWI with the 1/5 Royal West Surreys attached to the 1/5 East Surrey Regiment seeing post war service on the North West Frontier of Afghanistan in 1919.
Post-war he joined the Merchant Navy and was, in 1927, a Purser's Clerk aboard the Minnewaska.
According to the 1939 Register he was a Coal Merchants Branch Manager living at Sandown-Shanklin, Isle of Wight. He died 24 July 1954 at Sandown, Isle of Wight.
