Thomas James Haines RMLI/RN was born in Henley on Thames, Oxford in 1899. He enlisted with the Royal Marine Light Infantry in 1917 and, having survived the war, went on to serve in WWII aboard HMS Nile.
Haines was awarded the LSGCM on 31.12.1927 whilst aboard destroyer HMS Ilex (inter-war period.) and was awarded the NGS Palestine on 14.3.1945. He was discharged on 2.9.1945
He died on 10 January 1971 at 38 Cumberland Road, Reading, Berkshire.
