Cecil George Spilsbury was born in Birmingham, Warwickshire on 22 May 1920. He was placed on the Reserve on 21 July 1946.

During WWII, the British Army Air Corps (AAC) was formed as the combat aviation arm of the British Army. It was initially established in 1941 and consisted of the Glider Pilot Regiment, the Parachute Regiment, and Air Observation Post Squadrons. These units were created in response to the German use of paratroops and gliders. The AAC played a vital role in reconnaissance, artillery fire direction, and general transport flying duties

Spilsbury passed away in Birmingham in January 1975.
