George Cawley hailed from Worthing in Sussex. He served in WWI with the 2/Royal Sussex Regt and was reported Wounded in Action with them on 23.7.1916. He later transferred to the Royal Engineers with no.s 245562 and 619531. Post-war he joined the Royal Tank Corps seeing service with them on the North West Frontier in 1935, as part of the 11th Armoured Car Company, RTC. He had been awarded his LSGCM in 1934 and earned the 1935 Jubilee Medal as part of the 11th Royal Tank Corps. 

His address for many years was 2 Melrose Terrace, Elm Grove

He later joined the Police and was awarded their Exemplary Service Medal.
