Frederick George Prince was born in West Riding. Yorkshire in 1912. He served in WWII with the Hallams Battalion of the York & Lancashire Regiment and was Wounded in Action with them in France on 20.8.1944.

The Hallamshire Battalion, officially the 4th (Hallamshire) Battalion, York and Lancaster Regiment, was a Territorial Army unit that saw active service during World War II. It was part of the 146th Infantry Brigade, 49th (West Riding) Infantry Division. The battalion participated in the Norwegian Campaign in 1940, was stationed in Iceland for a period, and then landed in Normandy soon after D-Day in June 1944. It fought through France, Belgium, and into the Netherlands, including the battle for Arnhem. Prince, on account of his wounds, probably missed out on the Battle of Arnhem. He was awarded the Efficiency Medal to the Wiltshire Regiment on 31 October 1945.

According to the 1939 Register he was a Gent's Hairdresser living at 161 Backround Road, Bradford. He passed away in Bishops Castle, Shropshire in 2008.
