1939-45 Star; Africa Star; War Medal 1939-45; Efficiency Medal bar Territorial (6895870 CPL. F.J. LEADER. K.R.R.C.) - the EM comes with its original award box with a award slip dated 12 December 1950 addressed to Mr F.J. Leader 36 Beacon Road, Hither Green, London SE 13.

Frederick John Leader was born in Deptford London on 25 June 1909. He served with the 9th Battalion, King's Royal Rifle Corps (The Rangers) in North Africa and was taken POW at Bir Hachiem on 18/05/1942. Held at various camps in Italy, Germany and Poland, he was interrogated whilst at Bachi on 20.5.1942 when he was locked in a room with two men posing as members of the Fleet Air Arm - this was probably in an effort to extract information from him.

His medals were sent to him on 24 February 1949 to 36 Beacon Road, Hither Green, London - the same address he provided on his Prisoners of War General Questionnaire.

Sold with some research. Medals are in good condition unless indicated otherwise.
