Henry Collins who served with the  1st Bn, The Rifle Brigade, was born in Merston, Sussex in 1869. He attested for service with the RB in 1887 and saw service in Egypt. India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malta and South Africa where he earned his only campaign medals - those to the Anglo Boer War. He was in the Natal Theatre of operations and took part in the Tugela Heights operations and the Relief of Ladysmith. 

A career soldier, he was described as "thoroughly sober and reliable" whilst his skills were listed as " plumber, gardener and policeman."

He attested for service at Winchester with no. S/5026 on 19.10.1914 for WWI service but saw only Home Service at the Regimental Depot, being discharged on 16.7.1919. He was also awarded the Silver War Badge no. 509494 which is not with the medals.

All clasps confirmed on medal rolls. He was awarded the  LSGC on 1st July 1907.

Sold with copy service papers and medal rolls. Medals are in good condition unless otherwise indicated.
