Arthur Gilbert Rollason was born in Dixon's Green in 1891 and, after his schooling at Deniston College entered his father's firm as an Articled Clerk. He became a Solicitor and was commissioned into the 7th Bn Worcestershire Regiment in 1910. He went to France on 1.4.1915 died of appendicitis on 30 July 1915 following an operation performed on him by Colonel Barling. He was 23 years old.
His commission was regarded as remarkable as it was sealed by King Edward VII and Gazetted on the evening the King died. It therefore bore the signature of King George V.
