Horace Balmborough Berrie was born in Pontefract, Yorkshire in 1886. According to his CS20 (WWII medal application) his medals were posted to him on 25 June 1948 to 33 Glenwyllin Road, Waterloo, Liverpool. He served as a Lieutenant with the Inland Water Transport and Docks, R.E. in WWI after being sent to France on 11 February 1917 and as a Major with No.2 Port Operating Group, R.E. in WWII. According to the 1939 Register he was living at 33 Glenwyllin Road, Crosby, Lancashire and was a Superintendent Master Plater and Stevedore (Retired) - he was also serving with the Army Officers Emergency Reserve. He died in Liverpool in 1981. He was awarded the M.B.E. for gallant and distinguished services in North Africa per LG on 21 September 1943. The recommendation for the M.B.E. reads as follows:
"This officer was in charge of the docks operating personnel which were detailed to assist the US forces taking part in the assault on Oran (8/11/1942). He was subsequently in charge of dock operating at Phillipeville where he performed extremely good work under exceptionally difficult circumstances."

Walter William Badger Berrie was born in West Derby, Lancashire in 1914. He was a keen rugby player and served with the King's Regiment in WWII. His medals were posted to him at "Alington" Blundellsands Road West, Liverpool after he was released from the army on 12 November 1945. He was Wounded in Action in Nort West Europe on 1 August 1944. He died in Cheltenham in 2000.
