Christian Jacobus Bosman was born in Pretoria on 9.2.1899. He served in German East Africa as a Driver with the South Africa Service Corps (SASC) Mechanical Transport section from 1916 and was repatriated to South Africa suffering from Malaria in 1917, being discharged as Unfit for Service

He attested for service in WWII as a Gunner with the Reserve Training Depot, South African Artillery serving with the 1st Field Regiment, S.A.A. in North Africa. He was discharged on 4.4.1944 with rank of Bombardier.
