Leonard Banner was born in 1899 in Birmingham. He served with the 7th Bn D.C.L.I. in WWI, transferring to the Hampshire Regiment with no. 05322. He served in WWII and, post-war, was an active letter writer to local newspapers. He and his wife were both crossword puzzlers. He died in 1975
