British War Medal (DEAL 14730 -S- PTE. J.T. KELLY. R.M.); Victory Medal (DEAL 14730 -S- PTE. J.T. KELLY. R.M.); National Fire Brigades Association Long Service Medal claps 4 x Five Years, 20 Years (2815 JOHN T KELLY)
John Thomas Kelly was born in Exeter in 1875. He served with the Deal Division of the Royal Marines in WWI but is remembered, particularly, for his service with the Exeter Fire Brigade which he joined in 1893. He had the unique distinction of being the only member to have served for 40 years and was also, in his time, the oldest member of the Fire Brigade. He was awarded his Long Service Medal in 1924 with several service bars thereafter, culminating in a total of 40 years in 1934.
Sadly he didn't live long after finally retiring, passing away in Exeter in 1936.
