Henry Arthur George Chamberlain was born in Tottenham, Middlesex in 1896. He served with the Royal Artillery in WWI. He earned the Defence Medal in posted to him as follows: Mr H.G. Chamberlain, "Ridgekot". Cold Ash, nr Newbury, Berks.
The 1939 Register lists him as a Gardener living at East Lodge, Midgham Park, Newbury, Berkshire. It also confirms that he was a Special Constable in Berkshire, a fact confirmed by the original box of issue which accompanies the medal.
Chamberlain passed away in Newbury, Berks in April 1977.
