Leonard De Courcey Turner was born in Fulham, London in 1895. He entered the Royal Navy in 1913 and was at Jutland aboard HMS Malaya. he was promoted to CPO (Admirals Cox'n) in 1926 and was awarded the LSGCM in 1928 aboard Effingham. He was awarded the 1935 Jubilee Medal as a Chief Petty Officer.
According to the 1939 Register he was a Petty officer with the RN Air Arm at Alton and was living at 132 Avery Lane. Gosport. He re-attested for service in WWII as an Able Seaman (Pensioner) and was deployed as a Gunner/AB. By 1946 he was a Temporary Commissioned Gunner.
He died at Kinlet near Bewdley, Worcestershire in December 1984
