Walter Derbyshire was born in Manchester in 1894. He attested for service with the 20th Manchester Regt in November 1914 and was posted to France 9.11.1915. By 1 March 1917 he was an officer Cadet and was commissioned into the Machine Gun Corps on 25 June 1917.
According to the 1939 Register he was a Departmental Head/Insurance Official and also worked as a Warden at the Federated Insurance Association Ltd., 8 King's Street and weas living at 131 Rectory Lane, Prestwich - the same address as he had when his WWI medals were sent to him.
There is a comment on the Medal Index Card that a British War Medal was returned and scrapped on 13 June 1947 - this was, possibly, a duplicate or double issue.
Medals are in good condition unless otherwise indicated. Sold with some research.
