James Caleb Horley was born in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire in 1904. A Bricklayer by trade, he served with the 4th Bn Northamptonshire Regiment - the 4th Battalion, Northamptonshire Regiment was primarily involved in internal UK defense for most of World War II, but moved to North West Europe (including France and Germany) in February 1945. Assigned to the 115th Infantry Brigade, its duties focused on occupation and security in the region after the main fighting, including guarding infrastructure, managing displaced persons, and interdicting illegal transport of goods.
Horley was released from service on 7 October 1945.
At the time of the 1939 Register he was a Bricklayer (and Air Warden) living at 4 Fridaybridge Road, Friday Bridge, Wisbech, Cambridgeshire.
He died in Fenland, Cambridgeshire in April 1981.
Medals are in good condition unless indicated otherwise. Sold with some research.
