George Dale was born in Worksop in 1883. He was a late entrant to the Anglo Boer war, having only arrived as part of the supplementary draft of 2nd Bn West Yorkshire regiment who arrived in South Africa aboard the SS Dilwara on 6.5.1902.
According to the 1921 Register he was a Sergeant with the West Yorkshire Regiment Depot living at 32 Hartoft Street, York. His Long Service & Good Conduct Medal was awarded in the same year.
According to the 1939 Register he was living at 16 Belmont Road, Harrogate, West Riding and was a Chargeman C & W Department in the employ of the London North Eastern Railway. He died in 1949
