Francis Mahon was born in 1894 in Salford, Lancashire. He his father died in 1902 and his mother remarried shortly thereafter. He enlisted with the 6th battalion of the Royal Lancashire Regiment and was posted to Gallipoli on 13.6.1915. Just under two months later, on 10 August 1915, he was Killed in Action - one of 45 other ranks of his battalion killed on that day.
His mother, Frances Emma French of 14 Harry Street, Salford was his next of kin.
