British War Medal (LIEUT. H.S. BENNETT); Victory Medal (LIEUT. H.S. BENNETT)
Herbert Sidney Bennett RGA 1st Bn att 9th Bn South Wales Borderers was born in Cardiff in 1892. He enlisted in September 1914 and was commissioned as an officer on 12.5.1915. He was sent to France on 23.8.1916 and died of wounds received in action in the 141 Field Ambulance on 18.10.1918.
Sold with the medals mounted in an attractive wooden frame and a comprehensive folder of research which includes letters from a relative, on behalf of his wife, expressing regret that they were not able to visit him whilst wounded as well as extracts from the War Diary pertinent to the day he died.
He is buried in the St Souplet British Cemetery.
